A romantic comedy filmed on K’gari is set to premiere at the Gold Coast Film Festival later this month.
He Loves Me Not, produced by Fraser Coast Film, stars Rhiannon Fish and Lincoln Lewis.
Fraser Coast Films grew out of the team that directed and produced psychological thriller 13 Summers, a movie that was shot in Hervey Bay in 2022 and released late last year.
He Loves Me Not is about a wildcard contestant starring on a reality television show, similar to The Bachelor, who is in it for the money but ends up falling in love.
Ms Fish, an international star who appeared in When Love Springs, A Royal in Paradise, Team Bride, and For the Love of Chocolate, plays the leading female role of Holiday, supported by Georgie Parker, star of Home and Away, All Saints and A Country Practice.
In October last year, Mr Lewis was revealed as the male lead.
Director Tam Sainsbury said the film “looks fantastic”.
She said she was especially happy with the performances by the two leads.
“K’gari looks beautiful, it’s a character in its own right,” she said.
Ms Sainsbury said it was exciting that the film would premiere at the Gold Coast Film Festival.
The company is aiming to produce two films a year in the picturesque region.
Ms Sainsbury said she and writer Jeremy Stanford had plenty of other ideas and scripts to discuss.
She said they would start looking at producing another film soon, but at the moment they were focused on getting through the final stages of producing He Loves Me Not.
The film will screen at the festival on April 27 from 2pm, with an encore at 1pm on April 28.
